Benefits of Being a WoodLINKS® USA Industry Partner

  • WoodLINKS® USA certifies entry-level graduates for work in the wood industry across the United States.  WoodLINKS® USA certification is a nationally recognized standard for entry-level employment in the wood industry.
  • WoodLINKS® USA education programs are underway in 16 states
  • WoodLINKS® USA programs are regionally developed by industry and education to reflect the technical needs of your company.
  • You take part in the education process by assisting the teacher to develop and deliver a program that fits your industry profile needs.

What WoodLINKS® USA Industry Partners Do?

  • Industry partners work together with educators to deliver the WoodLINKS® USA wood products manufacturing curriculum.  The program is delivered as an elective course to high school freshman through seniors.  Industry partners get involved by:
  1. Offering plant tours
  2. Providing speakers on a variety of topics
  3. Providing technical support with student projects
  4. Conducting mock employment interviews
  5. Offering in-plant work experience to students
  6. Attending career information events
  7. Mentoring students
  8. Participating in local teacher in-service events
  9. Hosting awards ceremonies
  10. Donating materials and supplies
  11. Sponsoring Student WoodLINKS® USA Certification
  12. Contributing financial support
  13. Helping with Woodwork Career Alliance Skill Standard Teacher and Student Certification
  14. Training teacher on new or existing equipment
  15. Assisting with marketing  WoodLINKS® USA program to student body
  16. Helping with WoodLINKS® USA program marketing newsletter
  17. Providing leadership with advisory council
  18. Assistance with forming industry/education partnerships

How much time does it take?

  • As much as you want to give.  Being a WoodLINKS® USA Industry partner is your opportunity to help develop the workforce of the future by getting involved with kids just when they’re starting to make career decisions.
  • More importantly, become a local industry leader to encourage the support of other wood industries – manufacturers, suppliers, association’s, etc. to develop a sense of ownership of a WoodLINKS® USA program so that your company and others can secure your future skilled work force.
